The oncology Department at AIG Hospitals is a dedicated centre of excellence that offers comprehensive cancer care including prevention, diagnosis, treatment and palliative care for all age groups.

AIG Hospitals is a unit of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, India’s foremost Gastroenterology centre. The oncology team includes renowned & experienced medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists who discuss each case to find the best possible management for an individual patient considering the physical, social, psychological and emotional status of the patient. These cancers are often managed through discussions on multi-disciplinary cancer conferences and each member of the team contributes his expertise in offering the best treatment.

The Department of Oncology at AIG Hospitals deals with prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of early and advanced cancers that affect various organs, muscles, bones and connective tissue. The oncology team works closely in coordination with colleagues specialized in plastic surgery, gastroenterology, urology, cardiothoracic surgery, radiology, medical genetics, pathology, palliative care, physiotherapy and others to arrive at an accurate diagnosis and help tailor an appropriate and individualized treatment plan.

Oncologists determine the evidence-based treatment strategy for each individual based on various factors such as the site, extent and stage of cancer, the biology of disease, patients performance status and associated medical conditions with the involvement of the patient in decision making.
