Infectious diseases [ID] is a branch of medicine that deals with investigating, diagnosing, and treating diseases caused by different infectious agents like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. ID is a growing specialty in India and is the need of the hour in view of exponentially increasing antibiotic resistance and difficulty in managing such resistant organisms.
