HLA-Transplant Immunology Laboratory

The HLA-Transplant Immunology Laboratory offers extensive histocompatibility (HLA) testing services. HLA, which stands for human leukocyte antigens, are proteins or markers present on the majority of cells within our bodies. Our immune system relies on HLA to distinguish between our own cells and foreign ones. HLA tests are conducted to evaluate donors for patients undergoing various procedures such as Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), as well as kidney and liver transplants along with disease-specific assessments. These tests involve genotyping through molecular methods and serological analysis using Luminex bead-based assays.
