Professional Synopsis:

Dr Vishwanath Gella is a Consultant Clinical & Interventional Pulmonologist with great exposure in the field of Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care. He secured the first rank in DM Pulmonary Medicine entrance exam and third rank in MD Internal Medicine entrance exam. He completed his training from prestigious national institute PGI Chandigarh. He is one among the very few MD, DM super specialist Pulmonologists in the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh state from prestigious PGI Chandigarh. He has special interests in interventional bronchoscopy (flexible and rigid) and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS). He is the first among pulmonologists in the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to have started “Endobronchial Ultrasound OR EBUS” and has performed more than 500 cases of Convex and Radial EBUS for accurate diagnosis of various chest disorders like tuberculosis and lung cancer successfully. His original work on “EBUS for the diagnosis of lymphoma” and “Pediatric EBUS” has been published in “Journal of Bronchology & Interventional pulmonology and Pediatric Pulmonology” respectively. His original work on “Rigid Bronchoscopic debulking of central airway tumours” was published in a reputed medical journal “Journal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology”. He has a keen interest in the management of all pneumonia including “Nosocomial Pneumonia, Ventilator-associated Pneumonia, Pneumonia in immunocompromised patients & Fungal lung infections” and has published in the textbook of Pulmonary medicine by Dr Sk Jindal and “World Clinics in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine”. His original work on the role of “antifungal itraconazole in chronic pulmonary aspergillosis” has been published in “Mycoses”. He has a special interest in the management of Pleural disorders- pleural effusion & pneumothorax (fluid and air in chest), bronchial asthma, smoking-related lung diseases like chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung diseases (ILD) and has managed more than few thousands of each of these disorders.

He also has a special interest in sleep disorders like “Sleep apnea (Obstructive Sleep Apnea & Central Sleep Apnea)” and “Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome (OHS)” and has managed more than few hundreds of these patients with polysomnography and Positive pressure airway devices (CPAP, BiPAP). His immense experience in the management of patients with respiratory & associated emergencies like respiratory failure, pneumonia, septic shock, ARDS, massive hemoptysis (blood in the sputum), COPD & asthma exacerbations has saved numerous lives in critical care till now. His empathetic patient friendly approach, patience, keen listening attitude, astute clinical acumen have helped make the most difficult diagnoses.

He is a member of Indian association of bronchology, World Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, European Respiratory Society, Telangana State TB association, Indian Medical Association, and Academy of Pulmonary Sciences.
