Professional Synopsis:

Dr. Swapnali Sabhapandit is the Director of Institute of Ophthalmic Sciences at AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad. She graduated from Gauhati Medical College and received her postgraduate (MS) degree from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Guwahati in 2007. She completed her long term fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment from L V Prasad Eye Hospital in 2010 and also worked in the same Institute as a Consultant from 2015 to 2019. Prior to joining LVPEI, she had also worked in the department of Cornea at Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry.

Areas Of Interest/ Expertise:

Dr. Swapnali has performed more than 300 keratoplasties and more than 5000 cataract surgeries including phacoemulsification surgery. She can manage all types of anterior segment pathologies in the eye, including uveitis, pediatric diseases, corneal ulcers, ocular trauma etc. She was also the institute trainer for all types of cataract surgeries for national and International students at LVPEI. Dr. Swapnali has performed numerous refractive surgeries including femtosecond Lasik, ICL etc.

Accomplishments & Awards:

• The fifth “G Sitalakshmi Award” for community work in Cornea services from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai in 2012.
• Best paper in Cornea – “Spectrum of microbial keratitis in patients infected with HIV” at 69th Annual Conference of All India Ophthalmological Society at Ahmedabad in 2011
• Best presentation – “Serum Lipid profile in Diabetic Retinopathy” ( Completed case study with 100 cases) at the Retina Vitreous Session at the 65th Annual Conference of All India Ophthalmological Society held at Hyderabad on 1st February 2007
• Best Paper Award – “Serum Lipid profile in Diabetic Retinopathy” ( Ongoing study results with 50 cases) at the International VR meet on Diabetic Retinal Diseases – “ Retina 2006” organized by Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati 0n 4th and 5th March 2006 at Guwahati.

Dr Swapnali is a regular invited speaker for annual conferences of Telangana Ophthalmological Society and Ophthalmological Society of Assam. She has presentations in World Cornea Congress, Boston, All India Ophthalmological Society and Kolkata Ophthalmological Association. She also delivered the LC Dutta Oration in Chandraprabha Eye Hospital , Assam in 2010. She has conducted multiple instruction courses and wet lab training in different conferences in Telangana.
