Professional Synopsis:

Dr. Nilkanth Patil completed his early medical education from Mumbai (MBBS from LTMMC, Mumbai) and Bangalore (MD from BMCRI, Bangalore). He completed cardiology education and training from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS, New Delhi) after securing first rank in AIIMS DM Entrance examination. After completing cardiology training, he worked in AIIMS for further one year to gain more experience. After DM he is worked as a consultant cardiologist in Metro Hospital in Delhi ( - 4 years) & Care Hospitals, Hyderabad ( 3 years) - here he actively involved in teaching and training of DNB Cardiology students. He also worked as in Usha Mullupudi Cardiac Center for cardiac interventional procedures.

Now he is working in AIG, Hospitals since Oct 2019. In 2021-22 he went to work in Canada as fellow in department of Cardiology in London Health Sciences Center, London, Ontario to gain more experience in practice of cardiology in western countries. He is working in AIG Hospitals since he has come back in May 2022.

Paper/Poster Presentations:

  • Participated in “TCT INDIA NEXT-2016” held on 7-9 august 2016 – an annual national interventional cardiology meeting as invited faculty – presented an interesting case in Cath lab complications session which was selected for final award session.
  • Participated as an invited faculty and Presented interesting cardiology cases in Delhi CSI monthly meet in April 2016
    • a. Interesting case of DCMP – Sheehan’s syndrome presenting as DCM.
      • b. VSD with MI – an indomitable problem in cardiology
  • Attended the national interventional cardiology conference “India live 2016” held from 26-28th Feb. in Delhi as a delegate.
  • Took part in national cardiology prevention conference “CSI- cardio-prevent 2015” as a faculty and won the first prize in national cardio-prevent quiz representing team “North India”.
  • Poster presentation in “TCT 2015 San Francisco” On Oct 2015, in challenging case presentation “A Buddy always Helps” – Difficult Mitral Valvuloplasty performed using an out of the Box trick.
  • Took part in national interventional conference “TCT-INDIA NEXT – 2015” as a delegate from 14 to 16th August 2015.
  •  Presented in “challenging case presentations” in “TCT India-next 2014” held from 1 to 3rd august 2014 and was selected for the final award session of challenging case presentations. This case was also selected for “TCT-2014 Washington” as a nominated case from India and I was invited as a faculty to present the case in TCT-2014 -Washington but could not present due to logistic reasons.
  • Participated as a faculty in 5th congress of Asia Pacific Pediatric Cardiology (APPCS) conference held in march 6-9th 2014 and presented following paper in award winning paper presentation “Perforating the atretic pulmonary valve with CTO hardware – Technical aspects”
  • Participated in CSI Mid Term NIC (National interventional cardiology) meet held in Kolkata from 12th to 14th April 2013 as a faculty and presented in oral “challenging CD” case presentation.
  • Participated in PCSI-2012 (Paediatric cardiology society of India) annual meet and presented two oral and 1 poster presentation a. Entrapped PDA device b. MRI in acute rheumatic fever c. Poster presentation “high altitude right atrial Clot
  • Participated in national interventional cardiology conference “India live 2012” as a faculty and involved in organization of the conference held in feb 24-26th 2012.
  • Following 2 cases accepted for presentation at EUROPCR-2013 conference, Paris as first and presenting author, however, could not attend the conference due to logistic reasons. a. Mechanical catheter pulmonary valve perforation for pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum b. Vertical vein angioplasty for obstructed total anomalous pulmonary venous connection
  • Presented a poster in “NIC-Kochi 2012(national interventional cardiology conference)” “stenting of the vertical vein in obstructed total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) – a case series”
  • Oral presentation in monthly CSI-Delhi meet in 2012 Congenital LV aneurysm – a case series
  • Participated as a delegate in CSI (cardiology society of India) annul meet held in Dec 2012 and was the winner of the Cardiology Quiz held in annual CSI Conference, India -2012.
  • Paper of MD thesis “Serial ascetic fluid analysis in treatment of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in patients of cirrhosis of liver” received award for the best original research paper in annual KAPICON-2009 (Karnataka association of Physicians of India conference-2009).
  • Participated in multiple regional and national cardiology conference as cardiology faculty.
