Professional Synopsis:

Dr. Gaurav Sharma is a physician specializing in geriatric medicine, a field that focuses on the care of older adults (60 years and above). After earning his MD from the prestigious AIIMS New Delhi, he did his senior residency at IMS, BHU Varanasi. He was actively involved in continuing medical education programs on geriatric medicine for MBBS students, postgraduates, and nursing officers. He also participated in organizing awareness programs pertaining to senior citizens and the annual conference of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics. Additionally, he was involved in research activities on recurrent falls in the older adult population

As one of the very few geriatricians in this region, his services encompass the management of common chronic comorbidities in older adults, including diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid disorders. He has a special interest and expertise in identifying primary cause of core geriatric issues such as generalized weakness, joint pain/arthritis, delirium, memory complaints, sleep problems, falls, osteoporosis, and frailty requiring assistance with comprehensive geriatric assessment and a holistic multidisciplinary approach.

He emphasizes deprescription—reducing unnecessary medications—and collaborates with physiotherapists and dietitians to focus on lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, and appropriate treatment strategies to prevent adverse drug reactions in older patients.

With a strong interest in research and improving clinical outcomes in geriatrics, he has published in national and international journals and has presented his work at various national and international conferences.
