Over 17 years of experience in diagnostic processes and lab administration across two locations – Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, one of the largest GI referral centers in Asia and AIG Hospitals, Asia’s largest multispecialty hospital.
Currently leading a highly skilled workforce of 10 MDs, 2 Fellows, and 100 Technicians to process a volume upwards of 600 samples per day at a state-of-the-art lab. Additional responsibilities include managing a blood bank and act as Guide to GI Pathology Fellowship program.

Professional Experience:

  • As Director and Chief of Pathology at AIG Hospitals, currently leading a highly skilled workforce of 10 MD doctors, 2 Fellows, and 100 Technicians to process a volume upwards of 600 samples per day at a state of the art lab. Additional responsibilities include managing a blood bank and act as Guide to GI Pathology Fellowship program.
  • Led the setup of Pathology department at AIG-Somajiguda and AIG Hospitals- Gachibowli from concept to implementation that currently handles approximately 25000 biopsies per year, 15000 cytology per year, over 700 samples/day in hematology department
  • Envisioned, conceptualized and led the design and implementation of a state of the art lab at the new location of AIG Hospitals, Gachibowli which key capabilities including frozen section, IHC, molecular pathology and NGS platform.
  • Highly experience & expertise in testing and reporting multitude of GI lesions on endoscopic biopsies, Onco services in evaluating all Radical Surgical specimens, expertise in reporting, EUS and EBUS guided FNAC from pancreas, mediastinum, Liver and Lung.
  • Strong administrative skills with special emphasis on operations, recruiting, training personnel, budgeting and leveraging partnerships with clinicians, surgeons, oncologists and transplant specialists.
  • Previously, as Chief of Pathology at original location of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology responsibilities included overall administration, operations and academics of Pathology & Laboratory medicine.
  • As Chief of Transfusion medicine officer responsible for setting up blood bank department with components – supporting transfusion services for surgeries, transplants and providing components and plasma therapy services.
  • Instituted a 1-year fellowship program at AIG Hospitals in GI Pathology with two fellows per year that has yielded high level of training and professional satisfaction.
  • Key stakeholder to provide guidance at weekly clinical pathological meets, seminars and journal clubs and conduct teaching sessions for DNB residents, GI fellows and participate in research programs.
